Pride Was A Riot! - Connecting the Disparate Dots: Poetry Workshop with Astrid Solace

  • The Old Glass Works Walcot Street Bath, England, BA1 5BW United Kingdom (map)

The phrase ‘We get it poets – things are like other things’ keeps me up at night. If comparison is literally THE thing we’re meant to be good at, why can it often feel so difficult to bring ideas together in a way that feels natural both on the page and in performance?

In this workshop we will play games, hear and read poetry, and do short writing exercises to explore literary devices available to us to neatly bring together even the most tangentially related thoughts and ideas.

Astrid Solace is a multi-slam winning transgender performance poet from Birmingham. Having been featured by the likes of Verve Poetry Festival, I Am Loud Productions, Shindig, and The Big Gay Poetry Night, she is currently studying a Creative Writing Masters at University of Birmingham. Astrid was a grand finalist for the Roundhouse Poetry Slam in 2025, as well as the Lyra Festival Slam in 2026. She was a member of Apples and Snakes writing residency Words A Stage, the Transfem playwriting development program TFWG, and is the producer and host of Pretty Privilege Poetry – a bimonthly poetry event in Birmingham. Astrid just self-published a poetic lyric essay titled On Orgasms, Jesters and Autism as a transgender surgery fundraiser.

Tickets are ‘pay what you can’. Available on the door.
